چکیده
Globally, a variety of numerical weather prediction (NWP) models are employed by national agencies. However, the derived outputs from these generally inadequate for precise cultivation management due to bias error. This study uses observational data acquired over several months develop an equation correcting surface air temperature (SAT) error in NWP model outputs. With proposed method, converted into potential cancel influence differences between computational elevation and real elevation. The errors corrected using linear regression which radiative cooling scale (RCS) serves as independent variable. RCS is computed observed at nearby meteorological observation station, together with upper-level pressure model. Versions correction developed specific situations: day, night, meteorology, classified six groups. In application root mean square (RMSE) SAT output global spectral operated Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) was 1.2–1.6 K; RMSE nonhydrostatic JMA 1.2–1.5 K. method level accuracy similar that Kalman filtering technique without requirement constant target site.

Two adaptive radiative transfer schemes for numerical weather prediction models
Radiative transfer calculations in atmospheric models are computationally expensive, even if based on simplifications such as the δ-two-stream approximation. In most weather prediction models these parameterisation schemes are therefore called infrequently, accepting additional model error due to the persistence assumption between calls. This paper presents two so-called adaptive parameterisati...

JMA operates NWP models to meet various kinds of requirements on weather forecasting. The suite of the NWP models covers a wide temporal range of forecast periods from a few hours to two seasons providing a seamless sequence of products for the public. The Global Spectral Model (GSM) produces 84-hour forecast four times a day (00, 06, 12, 18 UTC) to support the official short-range forecasting ...

Numerical Weather Prediction (NWP) and climate simulations have been intimately connected with progress in supercomputing since the first numerical forecast wasmade about 65 years ago. The biggest challenge to state-of-the-art computational NWP arises today from its own software productivity shortfall. The application software at the heart of most NWP services is ill-equipped to efficiently ada...
متن کاملPhase-Correcting Data Assimilation and Application to Storm-Scale Numerical Weather Prediction. Part I: Method Description and Simulation Testing
An objective method of determining and correcting phase or position errors in numerical weather prediction is described and tested in a radar data observing system simulation experiment (OSSE) addressing the forecasting of ongoing thunderstorms. Such phase or position errors are common in numerical forecasts at grid resolutions of 2–20 km (meso-g scale). It is proposed that the process of corre...

Atmospheric models rely on high-accuracy, high-resolution initial radiometric and surface conditions for better short-term meteorological forecasts, as well as improved evaluation of global climate models. Remote sensing of the Earth’s energy budget, particularly with instruments flown on geostationary satellites, allows for near-real-time evaluation of cloud and surface radiation properties. T...
